A hangover is defined as;
1: something (as a surviving custom) that remains from what is past
2 a : disagreeable physical effects following heavy consumption of alcohol or the use of drugs
b : a letdown following great excitement or excess
Yes, we all know the hangover! Probably everyone faces it once in their life, some more frequently than others. You have them in all kind of ways; large, small, severe, nauseating, headache or just tired.
However, you probably had an amazing evening. You might be drinking too much and you lost control. You took another wine, another beer and ‘BAM’ it’s too late! You have a Hangover, you might be broke, have a headache and you probably forgot 75% of the evening! You presumably already notice that you woke up in a miserable way! You met the hangover (again), you feel like shit and it’s you own fault. What a nuisance! However, we also discovered many hangover moments which were really fun, comparing to the persistent headache you’re facing right now!
You forgot a big part of the evening/night, but you will remember the night piece by piece during the day, which can provide funny moments..
Last night, you pulled off great dance moves, you’ve made a lot of fun with all those people around you (whether it are friends, acquaintances or vague acquaintances, it doesn’t matter!), you kissed with that lovely guy, you met great new people and you’re less broke than you could ever imagine. You had a great evening with your friends, why shouldn’t you enjoy this?!
However, if you really cannot enjoy this hangover day, hereby some cure tips to prevent a hangover;
1. Sleep. Rest is your best friend at this point to give your body a recover. It is best to stay in bed so call in to work if you have to, tell them you have the stomach flu. You will sound so horrible on the phone they may believe you (unless they saw you at the bar, not a good idea then).
2. Avoid caffeine. A weak cup of coffee may be okay but a lot of caffeine will continue to dehydrate you, the opposite of what you want right now.
3. Drink orange juice for Vitamin C.
4. Drink a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade.
5. Eat mineral rich food like pickles or canned fish.
- Get some exercise. It takes willpower to move like that when standing seems like a challenge, but it is a good theory.
- Watch the video: Hangover Remedies. Jonathan Stewart demonstrates how to make a blended hangover remedy. There are a more than a few ingredients so you may want to have everything organized prior to overindulging.
- A Hot Bath - The heat will sweat out the toxins that are causing all the problems. You'll feel a bit woozy at first but go with it and you'll feel better afterwards.
- Cold Pizza - Who knows, but it seems to work.
- Asprin - Simply attends to the headache and does nothing for the level of alcohol in your system. Don't take them before you go to bed.
The effects of a hangover last about 24 hours, so be patient. You'll soon feel better and ready, inevitably, to do it all again. So, good luck to all of you!!
Greetings,
Fleur and Irene.
