You can learn from oversleeping!

Most people who read this blog experienced it a few times, you overslept!
Your alarm did not go off, and as a consequence you have to hurry for your bus in order to arrive on time at school or at your job! Unfortunately, pretty often you still miss the bus and arrive too late at your destination.

It is a fact that oversleeping may have negative effects for you. Why do you not hear you alarm and oversleep? Probably, you are not awake enough when your alarm goes off. But what is the reason for this? Going too late to bed, stress, or were you maybe reading an exiting book before you went to sleep which you could not put away? There can be thousands of reasons why you overslept. However, your teacher at school or your employer at work will not accept these reasons.  How to proceed? We apologize and are very sorry, but there is no good solution. Just do everything such that this will not happen again!

The best advice we can give you once you have overslept: Do everything possible to get on time at your destination. It turns out that you really do not need as much time as you are used to to get ready. Unconsciously you manage your time in order to be on time! The advantage of oversleeping is that you perform your morning rituals much faster, also the next few days. Hence, you have the opportunity to wake up a little bit later the rest of the week. So actually you can relax a little bit more during the whole week! Our conclusion: You can learn from oversleeping!

Embarrassing moments!

I am sure that you’ll agree with this statement: “It is very amusing to laugh about other people’s embarrassing moments.”

From time to time everyone has to deal with embarrassing moments. In public areas, surrounded by many others, it can happen that you make an uncontrolled move or an incorrect ruling. With all its consequences…. At such moments you’ll end up in an uncomfortable situation along with sweaty and red-face moments.

In the train or bus, it happens pretty often that the vehicle suddenly stops. As a result you might lose your balance and fall, hurt your head, or maybe you even fall against someone else. In short; you are irritated, while others around you giggle and laugh about your embarrassing moment. You don’t know where to look, and your first reaction is to swear at the conductor or the driver. They should know that there are people in the train or bus who have to stand in those rush hours! Why do they never warn you! By swearing you’ll try to cover your embarrassing moment. However this makes absolutely no sense. Everyone who saw it will remember it and share it with his or her friends. The above is a typical example of an embarrassing moment. But come on, what’s the big deal? Everybody has to deal with such moments from time to time. Remember, when it happens to someone else, you will also laugh about it!

So when you end up in an embarrassing situation, don’t make a huge problem about it. Instead, imagine that you are not currently involved in the situation but that you saw it happening. Laugh about it and take the opportunity to get in touch with your nice fellow travellers. It’s the perfect opportunity! Live, laugh and enjoy!

Embarrassing moments are not quite that bad at all!

The well-known HANGOVER!

A hangover is defined as;
1: something (as a surviving custom) that remains from what is past
2 a : disagreeable physical effects following heavy consumption of alcohol or the use of drugs
   b : a letdown following great excitement or excess
Yes, we all know the hangover! Probably everyone faces it once in their life, some more frequently than others. You have them in all kind of ways; large, small, severe, nauseating, headache or just tired.

However, you probably had an amazing evening. You might be drinking too much and you lost control. You took another wine, another beer and ‘BAM’ it’s too late! You have a Hangover, you might be broke, have a headache and you probably forgot 75% of the evening! You presumably already notice that you woke up in a miserable way! You met the hangover (again), you feel like shit and it’s you own fault. What a nuisance! However, we also discovered many hangover moments which were really fun, comparing to the persistent headache you’re facing right now!
You forgot a big part of the evening/night, but you will remember the night piece by piece during the day, which can provide funny moments..
Last night, you pulled off great dance moves, you’ve made a lot of fun with all those people around you (whether it are friends, acquaintances or vague acquaintances, it doesn’t matter!), you kissed with that lovely guy, you met great new people and you’re less broke than you could ever imagine. You had a great evening with your friends, why shouldn’t you enjoy this?!
However, if you really cannot enjoy this hangover day, hereby some cure tips to prevent a hangover;
1.       Sleep. Rest is your best friend at this point to give your body a recover. It is best to stay in bed so call in to work if you have to, tell them you have the stomach flu. You will sound so horrible on the phone they may believe you (unless they saw you at the bar, not a good idea then).

2.       Avoid caffeine. A weak cup of coffee may be okay but a lot of caffeine will continue to dehydrate you, the opposite of what you want right now.

3.       Drink orange juice for Vitamin C.

4.       Drink a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade.

5.       Eat mineral rich food like pickles or canned fish.
  1. Get some exercise. It takes willpower to move like that when standing seems like a challenge, but it is a good theory.
  2. Watch the video: Hangover Remedies. Jonathan Stewart demonstrates how to make a blended hangover remedy. There are a more than a few ingredients so you may want to have everything organized prior to overindulging.
  3. A Hot Bath - The heat will sweat out the toxins that are causing all the problems. You'll feel a bit woozy at first but go with it and you'll feel better afterwards.
  4. Cold Pizza - Who knows, but it seems to work.
  5. Asprin - Simply attends to the headache and does nothing for the level of alcohol in your system. Don't take them before you go to bed.

The effects of a hangover last about 24 hours, so be patient. You'll soon feel better and ready, inevitably, to do it all again. So, good luck to all of you!!

Greetings,
Fleur and Irene.

Enjoy the snow and these freezing temperatures!

Great that you’re reading our blog again!
It is February and it is winter! Have you seen the news and the posts on facebook, twitter eg? Most people are irritated about the weather. Common first reactions are; “It is too cold”, “Oh no my train is delayed!”, “It is very slippery outside”, “I hate snow”. All those reactions are very negative, but why? Maybe you don’t believe it, but it is possible to enjoy the snow and these freezing times!
Some people who are reading this blog disagree with us. Ok, we know that it is not fun to wait on your delayed train for a couple of hours by a temperature of -10 degrees. But take this moment to meet new people while you are enjoying a warm cup of tea or coffee. If you travel by car, we know that it is not exciting to get stuck in the traffic jam. However, relax and enjoy the music on the radio. Recent years it is increased to flirt while you are driving. A traffic jam is a perfect place for flirting with a nice driver next to you.

There are also victims in the Netherlands these freezing days, for example when boilers break down. These are typical moments that we are grateful to the humanity for primitive living. All right, these are not ideal circumstances, but you have to admit that it can be very cosy or romantic with a candle and a fleece blanket instead of fluorescent lamps! Remember to enjoy everything you do!
How can we deal with the snow and those freezing temperatures such that we start appreciating them? The temperatures are perfect for ice skating on natural ice. You can search on the internet if the ice is safe enough to skate on it. There are a lot of sites where you can check this information, for example; http://winter.buienradar.nl/natuurijs.aspx
This opportunity does not arise by itself every year so why aren’t you grateful for it and don’t you go ice skating? It is a great winter activity and you don’t have to go to an artificial ice rink!
Another possibility is to take your skies and go out for a skiing holiday! Enjoy the snow! There is no need to doubt whether there is enough snow in for example in Austria or Switzerland. There is plenty of snow this year! If you still feel unsure by it you can check the following website;
http://www.sneeuwhoogte.nl/.
When you still don’t like the cold temperatures, buy some wood and enjoy the perfect moment to relax in front of the fireplace. You see, there are a lot of ways to enjoy the snow and these freezing temperatures. Of course, having fun with the snow is great, check out these pictures!

We hope we have given enough options for you to enjoy this winter!
